Il magazine Rolling Stone ha stilato la classifica dei migliori 25 album del 2009.
Al primo posto, secondo la rivista americana, figurano gli U2 con No Line on the Horizon. La band di Bono Vox è seguita subito dopo da Bruce Springsteen (Working on a Dream, miglior lavoro solista) e i Phoenix (Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix).
Da segnalare il miglior piazzamento hip-hop per Jay-Z (4° con The Blueprint) mentre in campo metal-alternative primeggiano i Mastodon con Crack the Skye (12° posto).
